The first free-standing pediatric facility to be built in Canada in more than 20 years, Alberta Children’s Hospital was opened in 2006 to provide family-centered care, including a 24/7 emergency department, to children up to 18 years of age. More than 97,000 children and their families from Alberta, Southeast British Columbia and Southwest Saskatchewan rely on the Hospital for specialized care every year. Pacesetter is an ongoing partner and proud contributor to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, which funds family-centered child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment, and advanced pediatric research. Pacesetter looks forward to continuing to support Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation as well as the many children and families across Western Canada that it serves.
Pacesetter had a unique opportunity to work with Beads of Courage Canada and help launch their program into Alberta Children’s Hospital. Beads of Courage is a non-profit organization that is currently in over 140 hospitals worldwide. Their Mission – Caring for children coping with serious illness, their families and clinicians by helping them to RECORD, TELL and OWN their story of COURAGE through beads.
Pacesetter is proud to support Alexi Oborne, a Grade 11 student attending Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks, in her High School Rodeo career. Calling Turner Valley, Alberta her hometown, this 16 year old competes in the Alberta High School Rodeo association (AHSRA) during the school season as well as the FCA (Foothills Cowboy Association).
Over the last two years Alexi has made the High School Provincial finals, the first year placing 8th in the province and the following year placing 6th. The trip to the National High School Finals has eluded her both years but she aspires to make that trip before her High School career is over. She has earned berths in the Canadian High School Rodeo Finals twice, and earned the reserve title once.
Alexi is a 2 time concurrent FCA Jr Barrel racing champion 2015 and 2016.
A fierce competitor, Alexi flourishes in a pressured environment and takes the Pacesetter motto “consistency is the key to our success” to heart.
Pacesetter funds field trips, activities and programs at the CUPS One World Child Development Centre. The One World Centre is an early intervention education centre that operates with the philosophy of providing nurturing, caring, educational environment to help low-income children and their families reach their full potential. It is through this “grass roots” program we feel we can make the biggest impact to change the lives of many children living in our Calgary community.
